Jamie Rye Allen

Jamie is a 4th year doctoral candidate in the School of Environment and Natural Resources within the Environmental Social Sciences specialization. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2019 with a B.S. in Psychology, and minors in Environmental Policy and Music Performance. Jamie is interested in encouraging pro-environmental behavior in the contexts of single-use plastic, food choices, and ocean conservation using the theoretical perspectives of community based social marketing, and behavioral spillover. Jamie is also a trainee in the National Science Foundation EmPOWERment Research Traineeship (NRT) Program at OSU, which uses interdisciplinary collaboration to find sustainable energy solutions. Currently, Jamie is working on formulating her dissertation research and the ongoing SCE3P single-use plastic study. In her spare time, Jamie can be found in a pottery studio, playing with her dog, playing various instruments, or doing anything involving animals.
